Brainstorm I

Description

acrylic on canvas – 36X36X1.5 inches

Putting on the thinking cap, imagination goes fishing in a sea of limitless possibilities. In a flash, inspiration consumes the senses.

Underlying symbolism can be viewed from opposite perspectives. As a vehicle itself, the rainbow sits as a cap atop a cloud shaped like a brain. Controlled ignorance can be a motivating force, not to mention a crucial ingredient in creating new realities.

As in Gnosticism, the medium between realities could be seen as a god, an angel, or a demiurge who uses the reality above himself as inspiration for his own creative effort.

This painting also marks the last of the old symbolism studies to be reworked for this series. The original painting was damaged/destroyed and needed to be reworked yet again.
