The first principle of creation is a formless, unknowable essence containing the blueprint for all possibility, a seed containing both the masculine and feminine. The only clue we have is its original creation. As a fertilized egg divides itself in two, it spews forth the second principle, Barbelo – a reflection of self. Only now can the first principle experience itself. In essence, creating another was to create Himself too.
Temples begins with a self portrait contemplating the original deity. Born into a lucid comatose, there was none but Atum, at least as far as he knew. Endless possibility – only one thing to do.
