Mel Lyman, as photographed by Diane Arbus in her Magazine Work. Lyman was an artist, writer, and folk singer who played banjo. During the late sixties, he banded together with a small group on the east coast known as the Lyman Family.
Lyman authored The Autobiography of a World Savior and Mirror at the End of the Road, an account of his early years as a struggling artist.
